Part 1- US Road Trip

This blog is super late. But better late than never. We went to Seattle in August 2010 with Anand's parents. We all drove all the way up there and on the way stopped at some landmarks. It was a long long journey but I got to see a lot. A lot more than what I saw in the five years I was in US at that time. Here is peek.

First stop was at the Arch in St. Louis. I took few pictures. We were on a time constraint so did not really go up in the arch. But it was a good start to our journey.

This corn palace is in South Dakota. There are such vast stretches of barren lands on the way. This corn palace was quite interesting. They change the themes all around the year and it is all made of corn.

One the way

Next up was Mt. Rushmore. It was a little disappointing to me as I had imagined something bigger. But nonetheless it was awesome. I am just glad that I got to see it.

New Orleans

We saw this 'party bus' in the afternoon. Later in the evening we saw it again and that's when I came to know the where it was bound to. It was going to  'club whatever'. Quite hilarious!

New Orleans is famous for Voo-Doo the black magic. Still today there are voo-doo priestesses and their followers.

Fishermen trying to catch some shrimp ( I guess)

A Random ship

I saw this 'statue' man up from the ship. By the time we got closer he had finished his 'act' and was leaving. It was regardless very impressive!

Doesn't that little dog just love the mama riding the bike..

Can't get this sweet little car (?) out of my head.

It was Memorial Day weekend. Lots and lots of people were there for that weekend. I remember commenting that the last time I saw so many people was back in India!

Yes we did go on one of these horse carriages. It was very exciting.

Which place do we go?

A random house that was hit by hurricane Katrina. It was a pity to see so many of these kind of  houses. Some had big red cross marks on the door an indicative of a death due to the hurricane. Many houses had their roofs blown away and many had big wooden planks nailed to the doors and windows to keep away the water when the hurricane had hit New Orleans.

The 'French Cemetery' is a famous tourist attraction where you see hundreds of vaults. Guided ghost tours are conducted in the night time. We were not aware of those ghost tours when we visited. I wonder if we would have gone for those tours. I would probably have nightmares for a long time if we did.

'Nachez', is one of the ships that takes you around . It is a guided tour and they point out you a lot of important landmarks  on the shore. Also parts of the town that were hit by hurricane Katrina. You can see a lot of big cargo ships on the way.  Drinks and food are available on the ship. Its a great experience.
This ferry ride is free of cost. You can take you cars, bikes on it and get to the other side of the shore and drive away. Very cool!

The famous 'Burbon Street' in New Orleans is known to everyone. You just don't want to know what all you see here!

Space Shuttle Launch, Titusville, Florida. Febuary 6, 2010

Our first trip together was to watch NASA's space shuttle launch in Titusville, Florida on the 6th of February, 2010.

The old Florida trees caught our attention. They look like an old man with long white beard.

The water was cold.

The place where we stayed at faced the beach. You could just walk down and be right on the beach. What fun!

How cute is that!

We waited at 4'0 clock in the morning for the space shuttle launch. But unfortunately it got canceled due to cloudy sky. Yes it was a disappointment but we decided to stay one more day. We were determined to see it!

Had a good dinner at I-Hop that evening and were ready with our chairs at 7 P.M to watch the shuttle launch scheduled at 4 AM. There was so much excitement and so many people to watch it.

Finally the next morning the space shuttle was launched. We were lucky that we got to see this spectacular event. It was all dark until the space shuttle lighted everything for few seconds.

The beautiful sun-rise at the beach.

Love collecting sea shells

Down Memory Lane

Since I got married in Dec of 2009, me and my husband have traveled a lot. We both enjoy traveling and little outings. I just thought blogging is the best way to keep up with the memories which might get lost in the years to come.
